I like this idea of the design process moving in and out – divergence and then convergence.
Reflection on the book:
It might be useful to think through the project using the different design approaches. In particular, I’m interested to think through the project using systems design.
There’s this idea about what the ‘value proposition’ – what will the customer get out of the product? I wonder if writing a fictional account of how someone might experience the application or device might be a good way to help think this through.
Much of the book is about design as applied to industry, thinking about costing and marketing. Things which are important to think about in a general sense but less directly relevant to this project at the moment.
There’s a short chapter on ethics at the end, and I think I want to dive a bit deeper into the ethics of interface design.
