Reading – Book – Introduction to Research Methods – Samih Salah

Reflections and Next Steps

I have encountered much of the material in this book as part of my undergraduate and postgraduate medical training. I completed a 2 year Academic Foundation Training course in the first 2 years of working as a doctor and we also have to do statistics modules in higher psychiatry training.

I think what I enjoyed about this book though is that it takes a very human approach to explaining research methods.

Our project proposals, at this stage use the early parts of the research methods (choosing a topic, reviewing the literature and formulating the problem) and then take a more practice based research approach.

In order to have a good foundation for my project, what I need to do next is formulate a robust question and literature review.
