{"id":1487,"date":"2025-05-12T20:32:09","date_gmt":"2025-05-12T20:32:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wsa-creativetechnologies.uk\/kb4n24\/?p=1487"},"modified":"2025-05-15T10:19:47","modified_gmt":"2025-05-15T10:19:47","slug":"research-artist-collective-blast-theory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wsa-creativetechnologies.uk\/kb4n24\/research-artist-collective-blast-theory\/","title":{"rendered":"Research &#8211; Artist Collective &#8211; Blast Theory"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Thoughts <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Julian recommended that I look up the artist collective Blast Theory <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">They have been going for over 30 years now <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Their archive is a fascinating collection of works on &#8220;interactivity and the social and political aspects of technology&#8221; (&#8216;about us&#8217; from their webpage)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">I like their focus on the human who is experiencing technology or change in relation to technology <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Their work seems to focus on individuals in communities and the stories that happen in this context<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Their work is all documented beautifully &#8211; something I have yet to learn how to do and I feel like it is a positive example of what art can be<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">I like the idea of their practice as being collective and they seem to work with different partners for each project <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Working as an artist can feel lonely and I wonder if trying to form a collective or part-time collective may be one way around this <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">They use a lot of film and it&#8217;s made me wonder about exploring film and immersive film in my work. It&#8217;s not really a medium that I have that much experience in. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-medium-font-size\">They are based in Brighton so I hope to be able to see one of their pieces in the future <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><strong>Reference<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Blast Theory.
